Rachel Maddow Interprets Carl Paladino As 1990s Urban Street Art
New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino has an interesting track record. His name is mostly associated with the lewd emails he sent his coworkers, a physical assault on a New York Post reporter, and an obsession with opponent Andrew Cuomo‘s sex life. Many have given up trying to understand. Rachel Maddow refuses to rest until she finds the answer.
Maddow has tried before to understand Paladino through unorthodox terms. Last time she came to the conclusion that he was really Joaquin Phoenix. This time, she turned to 1990s street art, wondering whether Paladino intends to become the object of such art or if he’s just doing it all for the performance aspect of it. “None of this makes any sense,” she explains, and notes that, after all his attacks on Cuomo for his alleged affairs, Paladino has “inexplicably started denying that he had an affair… for the pure artistic and surreal joy of it all” (Paladino has long admitted that he fathered a child out of wedlock).
But certainly that is not enough proof that he is an art project. Maddow goes further, tying Paladino to the Church of the Subgenius, a “parody religion” based in 1990s street art.
