Ralph Nader: Obama ‘Should Be Impeached’ For ‘Committing War Crimes’

Video

Frequent candidate for President Ralph Nader is back on the scene and proves, at the very least, he is consistent with his viewpoint. Arguing that President George W. Bush and Dick Cheney were war criminals and then claiming that the Obama administration continues to engage in the same activity, Nader made the logical deduction that President Obama must also be a war criminal who should be impeached.

Nader’s critical views of Obama’s foreign policy:

“Barack Obama is committing the same crimes [as Bush and Cheney], in fact worse ones in Afghanistan. Innocents are being slaughtered, we’re creating more enemies, he’s violating international law, he’s not constitutionally authorized to do what he’s doing, he’s using State secrets, he’s engaging in illegal surveillance, the CIA is running wild without any kind of circumsribed legal standards or disclosure . . . why don’t we say what’s on the minds of many legal experts; that the Obama administration is committing war crimes and if Bush should have been impeached, Obama should be impeached.”

If the host didn’t jump in, it seems like Nader could have listed many more examples of Obama’s alleged “crimes.” Although liberal opposition to Obama’s Libyan actions might be growing, with Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich sounding similarly angry with Obama, it doesn’t seem like many others will seriously follow Nader down this impeachment road.

Sure Ralphy – right after Bush and Cheney are charged for war crimes and tortured for what they did to this country.

Thanks, ralph, I’ll add “war cri9es” to the already long list:

    IMPEACH “YOU LIE!” HUSSEIN !!!!

Speaker of the House Boehner must convene a special panel to begin IMPEACHMENT hearings for the high crimes and misdemeanors of hussein in relation to the illegal sestak and romanoff job offers, CRONY CAPITALISM with GE, Goldman Sachs, GM and others, blatant extortion of money from a company (BP), intentional failure to protect our borders, willfully ignoring the legal rulings of the courts (that’s the THIRD BRANCH of the federal government, Sen. “Like all lunatic-lefties, I know nothing about the Constitution” Shumer), funneling massive amounts of taxpayer money to unions that then illegally kick-back money to the d-crat socialists, intentional failure to enforce immigration laws and the intimidation of any state or law enforcement agency that does try to enforce them, DOJ acceptance and encouragement of Blank Panther voter intimidation, outrageous race-base law enforcement by the DOJ and his many, many other offenses against America and the US Constitution.

He did nothing of the sort, really sick of liberals blaming this guy for 2000 when you should probably be blaming Al Gore for running a crappy campaign, fighting with Bill Clinton and refusing to let him campaign for him until about a month before the election cause he saw how close the poll numbers were. Hell, he didn’t even manage to win Tennessee.

You should also blame the right wing Supreme Court who appointed King George to the Presidency. You are aware that Al Gore won the popular vote and because Kathrine Harris stopped the recount. He would have won Florida had it continued.

Let’s stop the bullcrap and disinfo about Nader, it wasn’t his fault it was your candidates fault and ultimately the fault of the Supreme Court.

Oh Nader, you betraying Obama? What happened? Did you not get the script? You’re supposed to hate Republicans and love Democrats, specially BLACK Democrats that are oooooh so deliciously lovable, special, and don’t need experience to get elected.

Come on, Nader, if you keep talking like this pretty soon people are gonna start saying you’re a racist. ;-)

Amazing. Someone, even a hard-left guy like Nader, calls for President O-Bomb-a’$ impeachment and the “racist” card goes flying. Could you be anymore predictable?

The sad part is you partisans throw that around so much that no one even really pays attention to it. It’s lost its thunder, and when someone is actually guilty of such a thing no one is going to give it the proper attention it needs. It’s the whole “Chicken Little” phenomenon.

Why would he be impeached, it was a UN resolution with other nations, the US didn’t go it alone. Is the president of France being impeached?

Nadar is just an idiot, I used to think it was because he was against illegal wars, but this isn’t a war and I don’t think the president plans it to be. It’s a tough decision, help the libyan people are let them be squashed… impeachment though? idiot.

  • More Liberty5

    @ Snowspot,

I’m not sure if you know this but no where in the US Constitution does it require that the USA, when it goes to war/military action, must be part of some “coalition.” But the only branch of government that can legally declare war/ authorize military action is the legislative branch – the US congress. Obama has not received or even asked for a resolution for this action from congress. Even the neocon Bush had authorization for Iraq via the Resolution 114 which passed the house.

    Obama even knows this.

“The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation”. ~ then Senator Barack Obama, December 20th, 2007.

“It’s a tough decision, help the libyan people are let them be squashed”

Fine. If that’s the Presidents view but he must go before congress to request the authorization of force. He’s not a dictator, we have a system of checks and balances. And if your reason to spend billions and risk the lives of Americans is to help people that are being “squashed” does that mean we need to attack Saudi Arabia or Iran.

This clip of Nader is from Friday. Matt Schneider has conveniently connected it to Libya.

If you watch the clip from Democracy Now or even read the article from The Hill where Schneider found the story, they make it clear Nader is addressing the situations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Nader was on the program Talking about the wars and protests because of last weekend marking the 8 year anniversary of the Iraq war. He was not on commenting about the Libyan air attacks which had not happened yet.

“Kucinich, who wanted to bring impeachment articles against both former President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney over Iraq — only to be blocked by his own leadership — asked why the U.S. missile strikes aren’t impeachable offenses.

Kucinich also questioned why Democratic leaders didn’t object when President Barack Obama told them of his plan for American participation in enforcing the Libyan no-fly zone during a White House Situation Room meeting on Friday, sources told POLITICO.

And liberals fumed that Congress hadn’t been formally consulted before the attack and expressed concern that it would lead to a third U.S. war in the Muslim world.”

hey stupidass the only history revisionist here is your redneck ass, heres what really happened :
The Florida election recount of 2000 was a period of vote re-counting that occurred following the unclear results of the 2000 United States presidential election between George W. Bush and Al Gore, specifically the Florida results. The election was ultimately settled in favor of George W. Bush when the U.S. SUPREME COURT, with its final ruling on Bush v. Gore, STOPPED a recount that had been proposed by the Florida Supreme Court, which had the effect of awarding Bush a majority of votes in the Electoral College

Oh, God, are we talking impeachment again?
Seriously, there are two foundations of our nation that are used by the both parties (more the right than the left) for increasingly frivolous and political purposes:

    Impeachment.
    Adding a Constitutional amendment.

I understand that when a candidate of the other party does something you don’t like, then impeachment is the obvious and only recourse. And I also understand that when you really like something, it deserve to be enshrined in one of our nation’s founding documents, so you all can pretend you and John Adams have something in common. But you know, what? STFU. Both should only be used in the rarest and most critical of circumstances. Not because you happen to not like something. Prohibition? Bad reason for a Constitutional amendment. Abolish slavery? Good reason for a Constitutional amendment.

Now please tell me I hate America and that unless the Constitution is amendment to prohibited gay marriage, we might as well pack up the country and give it back to England.

    Hey dummy,

    FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES

    November 12, 2001
Study of Disputed Florida Ballots Finds Justices Did Not Cast the Deciding Vote
By FORD FESSENDEN and JOHN M. BRODER
Acomprehensive review of the uncounted Florida ballots from last year’s presidential election reveals that George W. Bush would have won even if the United States Supreme Court had allowed the statewide manual recount of the votes that the Florida Supreme Court had ordered to go forward.

Contrary to what many partisans of former Vice President Al Gore have charged, the United States Supreme Court did not award an election to Mr. Bush that otherwise would have been won by Mr. Gore. A close examination of the ballots found that Mr. Bush would have retained a slender margin over Mr. Gore if the Florida court’s order to recount more than 43,000 ballots had not been reversed by the United States Supreme Court.

Even under the strategy that Mr. Gore pursued at the beginning of the Florida standoff — filing suit to force hand recounts in four predominantly Democratic counties — Mr. Bush would have kept his lead, according to the ballot review conducted for a consortium of news organizations.

    FROM CNN NEWS

Newspapers’ recount of Florida ‘undervotes’ confirms Bush victory

    April 04, 2001

If a recount of Florida’s disputed votes in last year’s close presidential election had been allowed to proceed by the U.S. Supreme Court, Republican George W. Bush still would have won the White House, two newspapers reported Wednesday.
The Miami Herald and USA Today conducted a comprehensive review of 64,248 “undercounted” ballots in Florida’s 67 counties that ended last month.
Their count showed that Bush’s razor-thin margin of 537 votes — certified in December by the Florida Secretary of State’s office — would have tripled to 1,655 votes if counted according to standards advocated by his Democratic rival, former Vice President Al Gore.

  • Davo

Gordon, it’s no wonder Dims today aren’t aware of this. Do you remember how little “news” coverage this got at the time. The DCMPN (Democrat Campaign Media Posing as News) flooded the nation with accusations of unfairness to their candidate, Gore, but only begrudgingly spit-out the truth as a morsel back on “page nine”.

I don’t give him much credance any more. His opinions are flawed, shallow and sometimes almost envious. Obama did the right thing by joing the “real coation of the willing” on a humanitarian mission as defined by the UN. I would say the world is watching and helping and that Obama did a good thing for America and the people of Libya and the people of the world. It was said last night. We had to follow through or any dictator would respond to world efforts to stop mass murder would go unheeded by the tyrants and many more innocents would die.

President Obama can now do like the joke I heard; about when the old farmer was going to teach his son about how to handle a mule by being very gentle to the mule and he starts off hitting the mule in he head with a 2X4 timber, then the farmer explained now that we have his attentin we can be very nice to him similiar to the Way Obama can do with Libya now.—–Following is the scenario I personally would like Obama to explore in order to bring this new war to a quick ending for the benefit of all involved, to make America look like a true peace maker and a fair player along with being looked at as a excellent ally. To start with I would phone a few of our potential future allies and a few of our present allies and see who may consider accepting Gaddafi as a leader in exile. If I had any success with this idea, I would proceed to calling Gaddafi himself and in the most diplomatic voice possible, I would explain the dangers that are facing him and his opponents in as few as words as possible and at the same time ask him his opinion as to where he thinks this new uprising will end along with letting him know I have taken it upon myself to contact a few other nations on his behalf to see if any of them would accept him in life with peace where he can live out his Senior years without harassment or fear of retribution. I would tell him to think this over for three days then I will call him back. After our next phone call, if he declines the offer this time, no more offers will follow and he is on his own. This offer is too good for Gaddafi but it is the very best offer for the rest of the world without going into detail of the benefits awaiting the rest of the world if Gaddafi leaves Libya as soon as possible. Is this fair? NO. Is it right for the rest of the world? YES

So, we’ve got a consensus–Nader, Weiner, and Kucinich all yelling “off with his head.”

    What a hoot.

I forgot to include Barney Frank.

Most Americans can’t handle the truth, but here’s a hint: America has done THOUSANDS of things wrong.

    Check this out!

No more illegal wars. Obama put on notice!

On March 7, Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) introduced House Concurrent Resolution 107,

“expressing the sense of Congress that the use of offensive military force by a President without prior and clear authorisation of an Act of Congress constitutes an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under article II, section 4 of the Constitution.”

The bill has been referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary.

In addition to the above statement, the resolution reads:

“Whereas the cornerstone of the Republic is honoring Congress’s exclusive power to declare war under article I, section 8, clause 11 of the Constitution: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That it is the sense of Congress that, except in response to an actual or imminent attack against the territory of the United States, the use of offensive military force by a President without prior and clear authorization of an Act of Congress violates Congress’s exclusive power to declare war under article I, section 8, clause 11 of the Constitution and therefore constitutes an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under article II, section 4 of the Constitution.”
