Rick Perry Correctly Names The Three Departments He Would Cut, Crowd Cheers Wildly

Texas Governor Rick Perry earned the biggest round of applause during Sunday morning’s NBC News/Facebook debate, when he correctly named the three federal departments he would do away with if elected President (some people may remember his flub in a November debate).

Enjoy the fun moment below, courtesy of MSNBC, as Perry recalls the names of the Departments of Commerce, Energy, and Education:

That was really great. I’m so proud of him. Did he disappear after that? I don’t recall hearing anything else from him.

  • Centrist79

That was the highlight of his debate.

It must be devastating to Obama supporters every time you launch that missile.

Can you imagine being “cheered” for remember three items????  That is great if you are in third grade – but a pres. debate?????  Any wonder why he is at the bottom of the barrel.

  • TVNewsViewer

Nice to know the quality of Texas public school education includes the ability to count to 3.

Good one…you must be proud of yourself.

No.  Being unemployed is devastating to Obama supporters.

Rick may be juiced up on drugs and not the smoothest debater.  But he NAILED which three departments need to go first.

So why does he take time to remind everyone and cement the Rick Perry is stupid meme?  You should look for a new job.  His campaign is over.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_U7T5LVIQK7AMIBM5WI765VDVDQ smald4lib

The applause was for Rick remembering not for what he was saying, or is that wrong, and they are as dumb as he is?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_U7T5LVIQK7AMIBM5WI765VDVDQ smald4lib

They were clapping for him remembering, or was it, they were acutally clapping for what he said? Which makes them as stupid as he is. Where would Rick Perry be without a government job?

Too bad Rick didn’t remain high on the totem pole. To read my predictions go to http://www.insightfulstars.com

Reminds me of that video about how stupid Sarah Palin is:

Talk about someone being forgetful, but you won’t see the media cover that.

Yeah, actually the best part was cut off from this clip.   He answers the question about whether americans should feel un-american about receiving government support.

It’s so sweet when you guys toss that melting snowball of an accusation. Yeah, that Harvard Law School grad thinks there are really 57 states. What a dummy. Good thing you’re here to remind him that he was exhausted while campaigning and misspoke. That totally makes all the bullshit being spread by the GOP candidates OK.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Theresa-Darklady-Reed/581698361 Theresa ‘Darklady’ Reed

Palin lowered the bar and nobody in the GOP has bothered to move it higher…

You pieces of garbage destroyed our economy, and now you blame Obama for not being able to fix it fast enough. There is nothing lower than a Republican. You people are filth.

  • http://gregingleright.weebly.com/ Greg

A conclusion I tried to avoid… Yet so clear I can no longer deny… Some of these folks are simple trash given access to technology they have not earned the right to use. If the chronic inebriate is kept off the road then the dedicated moron should be banned from the digital sphere.

  • Anonymous

Nope…..just think how amusing it is that the press always gives Obama a pass just like the leftists give Biden a pass for being a draft dodger.

  • Anonymous

Yeh……picture what it would be like having a VP that says stupid……………ohhhhh….never mind.  Forgot about good old Joe Biden

  • Anonymous

So what Rick Perry remembered the three federal depts. he wants to eliminate.  Makes no difference since his chance of becoming the Republican nominee for president is about equal to breaking physical law.  Now lets pat on the head and say good boy.  You finally learned your trick.

    Sick.  Sick.  Sick.

To be fair, they were laughing and applauding at his sense of humor and ability to poke fun at himself.

And also to be fair, his initial (flubbed) comment which suggested totally eliminating those 3 agencies was perhaps the most foolish comment in the debates so far … perhaps only exceeded by the notion that the President could make Congress a part-time ‘profession’.

In debates and on the campaign trail, Republican Presidential candidates continue to make false or misleading statements which go unchallenged.

Romney insists that Obama raised federal income taxes on businesses. The reality is that federal corporate tax revenue have dropped by 50% in the past three years even as the US GDP grew by 10%. http://thebottom99percent.com/debatewatch-romney-on-obama-jobs-and-taxes/

Perry claims “Government spending is out of control” and that we need to reduce the number of federal workers and departments. The reality is that the federal government has 297,000 fewer employees than under Ronald Reagan and now serves 25% more Americans. As the population continues to grow the government is shrinking. http://thebottom99percent.com/debatewatch-perry-on-government-spending/

Republicans always stick to a tight script of talking points that are misleading, or worse plain out lies.

Well, he didn’t answer the question in that rightscoop clip. He just repeated what he says Americans want, “not a handout, but a job . . . “

    Funny comment.

    But seriously.

Anybody who is a liberal or a moderate, or even a conservative who secretly likes the Health Care bill and its pre-existing conditions provision, needs to do what we can to get this Perry guy on the ballot.

He’s the only person other than Romney that has any real chance of being nominated (i know he’s way down in the polls, but I’m talking about his credentials and personality).

I don’t think Obama can beat Romney.

Romney is the kind of slick, double-speaking, winking Bush-clones that independent voters seem to swoon for.

  • 12voltman1

All of the GOP candidates are very weak includlng Romney.

There ARE 57 states, you idiot!

    (they just aren’t all American)

Let’s see if we can get him to sit and roll over now…

How do you like being a volunteer for the Perry campaign? Haha

Palin lowered the bar?  What tree stump did you originate from?  The lowering of I.Q. is directly tied to thedemocrats..pelosi..”we need to pass the bill so the american people will know whats in it”….reid…”all republican sponosored bills are dead on arrival at the senate”…obama….”all 57 states”…obama…”we have created millions of jobs”…let us ignore the fact that if you lose 1,000,000 jobs and create 100,000…obama says the unemployment rate has GONE DOWN.  The ones like you who do not listen are the reason we have this moron in the White House.  not to mention him and his gross old woman spending our money like it is their personal ATM.  How many working Americans (if you are that lucky) can go to hawaii on two..no using four plans..rent an $8 million dollar house and not have to spend a dime of your own money?  Please tell me what land you live in if you can do that..tell us all.  Most of us can barely keep our bills paid and afford a $1.00 movie rental from a kiosk.

  • http://openid.aol.com/imomsixi Donna Cox

Why are the opinions of bloggers..unidentified…unverified…; or the media for that matter, even important?  if the media had used its skills, ethics, public obligation to vet this alleged brilliant President, can one even imagine how much better things might be.  I am saying that neither bloggers or so called media professionals are smart enough to determine the intellect of we the voters.  So listen, laugh, curse, turn it off or what ever…then you vote for the person who has your set of core values, beliefs, and considers this country the best in the world.   Remember the media people are driven by the money of whom ever owns the news outlets they work for.

  • http://openid.aol.com/imomsixi Donna Cox

I like Rick Perry.  What he actually failed to do was go further with his cut list.  Can you try and think of 3 government agencies to eliminate, when there are so many that need to be eliminated.   that is a hard question.  Laughing at ones self shows a good mind, good heart and a human acknowledgment that sometimes things just go south on you.

Isn’t it sad that on the birthday of Martin Luther king and his movement to give the right to vote for African Americans in the south, the Republicans have launched a campaign to stop that right by their new voter restriction laws?     What seems to be ironic is when South Carolina attempted to institute these laws, the Attorney General of the United States stepped in to block them.    South Carolina, which still flies the confederate flag, was the first state to join the Confederacy pre-civil war, and the first to cry for States Rights during the Jim Crow era against Federal intervention.    Even Republicans like Ron Paul, who opposes any wars, was totally against the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and against Congress passing a holiday in honor of Martin Luther King.     In fact, one of the reasons Ronald Reagan said “government was the problem” is because he too was against the Civil rights Act.     Now, the Republicans have adopted that motto to go forward with non-regulation of not only the protection of the people, but to save big corporations money.    And for 30 years or so, the deregulating of many organizations have reduced the wages of the middle class, and increased the profits of the top 1%.     God save America.
