Rick Santorum Supporter Foster Friess Opens CPAC Speech With Mitt Romney Joke

JOKES

Millionaire investor Foster Friess, the man who has gained some fame lately with his support of Rick Santorum and large donations to a pro-Santorum SuperPAC, opened up his Santorum introduction at CPAC Friday with a joke that took a swipe at Mitt Romney:

“Life is just so much fun and so filled with humor. There’s a little bar a couple doors down, and recently a conservative, a liberal, and a moderate walked into the bar. The bartender says, “Hi Mitt!’”

The crowd both applauded and booed as Friess laughed, before moving to his intro of Santorum.

Must be hard going through life with the first name ” Foster”.

He needs a regular name like Jack or Mike or Gloves.

Witty, accurate and utterly damning all at once, someone get Mitt to the hospitat as he’s been burned. I see that line being stolen and used across the world by both politicians and comedians. :)

By the way, Fossie, that sweater vest is not a good idea unless you’re Curtis Strange or Larry Mondello.

Mr Fries must have torched a nervy feeling up there?

I find it amusing that Rick and Mr.Friess like dressing the same way. Might want to make it look fashionable again.

Hahaha. As a belligerent liberal, this is the only time I’ll be thankful for Ricky Santorum.

    … or Willard.
    … or Mitt.
    … or Newton Leroy.

I’m fine with “Foster”. A great first name for cheap sunglasses.

Looks like the Ayn Rand A-hole convention is not holding back AT ALL this year, huh?

Robert doesn’t like to say, but most of what he does is to impress Jodie Foster.

I tend to agree, but I have to add that Willard’s Momma jeans are every bit as much disturbing. I rather imagine when he gets back home he slips into something more comfortable. A nice Italian tropical wool, some flannels, perhaps.

These right wingers are sure a fun bunch…I agree with some of what they say…but they are all pretty unlikeable…

Friess is a better comedian the Brad Stien, the guy from yesterday’s CPAC

Or returns them to his wife’s closet.

It’s the Republican way of bonding with us.  They think they look like regular Joe’s if they wear sweater vests or a plaid shirt.  To me, they look like they are trying too hard.  I don’t want a Regular Joe as President.  I want someone I can respect and think that this is a man who is actually better than Me.  Wouldn’t that be a nice change?  I’m looking forward to that, but I have no idea who that man is going to be cause I haven’t seen him yet.  AND…It’s not the joker who’s in the White House right now, that’s for sure.

Is Santorum the ONE?  We need someone to step up.   I’m not voting for any Mud Singers.  I’ve had enough of that type of politics.

That was funny!  Seeing these guys feed on each other is so much fun and to think, that who ever winds up with the nomination will lose easily to President Obama!  LOL!  Its good entertainment anyway!

Bad grammar.  If you’re describing multiple aspects of one entity, you don’t use an ‘article’ before each characterization.  He should have said “a conservative, liberal and moderate walked into a bar”; no ‘a’ before liberal and moderate. Then the bartender would have said “what’s a Mormon  doing in here”?

    Lame joke…………..

The crowd didn’t know what to do, cheer or boo.  They were waiting for the cue card to tell them how to act.   I do like how the Koch brothers bussed in all those young people. That was very nice of them.

They’ll react later when Fox News tells them how they were suppose to feel. :P

Mitt Romney wouldn’t walk into a bar.  As a Mormon, he doesn’t drink alcohol.

I’ve never been to a bar that didn’t also serve soft drinks. Pepsi, Coke, Dr Pepper, etc.
Some even sell MILK, that is one thing that I’m sure Mormons can drink. I also imagine that bars in Utah even serve orange Crush.

Also of mention…This is an election year..You’ll find that the candidates will go wherever there are voters.

With one exception…The Mustang Ranch and others like it.

    Andy,
I’m a Mormon and I’ve never intentionally walked into a bar (I mean one that is not part of a full restaurant also).  Mormons just don’t go into bars, no matter what they sell.  They certainly don’t go into bars often enough for the bartender to recognize them.  Trust me on this one.  I’ve known a lot of Mormons in my life.

Oh you mean the joker that IS the sharp dresser? ….the one IN the white house?

Are you running for President of the United States?

I know a lot of Mormons too. And just where did I say that a bartender would know what they wanted to drink? I said that they serve Milk, and soft drinks, probably Orange Crush. (In most bars the person that wants a drink asks for such and such..The bartender doesn’t have ESP)

  • Larry Linn

It is sad the presidential candidates are pitching their programs to well to do CPAC, rather than to the electorate.

    Hi Andy,

No, of course I’m not running for President of the United States.  I guess I am just going on almost 40 years of being a Mormon and interacting with Mormons in three different countries on a daily basis.  (I’ll admit I’ve never met a Mormon who was also a politician, though. ;) )

I have not personally heard of any Mormon going into a bar and ordering milk or Orange Crush (actually, I don’t know many people in general that drink Orange Crush…that was a drink from my youth in the late 70s/early 80s…Kind of hard to find these days…)

Anyway, maybe it’s just me.  There could be a whole host of people that walk into a bar and order milk and I am just too sheltered to know about it.

That being said, apparently I have offended you in some way, so please accept my apologies and have a great day!
    Laura

I think we all know what a negative photographic image is that shows dark areas as light and light areas as dark.

Well that is what comes to mind when I listen to some of the more sarcastic and offensive CPAC speakers.

CPAC is the “negative photographic image” of Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally … and I am not even a fan of Glenn’s. (Or, if you prefer, please feel free to substitute the Stewart-Colbert rally.)

One gathering was an upbeat celebration of honor, country and faith. The other is a collection of wealthy angry old white guys (and a few angry white gals) using every opportunity to insult, mock and ridicule those they disagree with.

Kind of makes me laugh at the sharp but shrill contrast.
