Fresh from his induction into the Irish-American Hall of Fame, MSNBC host Chris Matthews will soon be off to give this year’s commencement address at Ohio State University—much to the chagrin of some OSU students.
“The response from students is simply that we don’t know who this guy is, we don’t care about this guy,” the undergraduate student body president said. “And the fact that Mr. Matthews obviously has a very liberal leaning and he’s not even a public official was irksome to me.”
Students sounded bummed that the university didn’t get a bigger name, after previous years featured this Obama guy, some dude named Boehner, and this Susan Rice person. Buckeyes also objected to the fact that the selection was made without input from the student body, as in years past.
“Because of time constraints and leadership changes during the past year, the decision was made to use a more streamlined approach to speaker selection for spring 2014 commencement,” a spokesperson for the university said.
Reports that OSU sucks went unconfirmed at press time.
