Bill de Blasio Fires Back at Trump: He’s ‘Low Energy!’

Hours after launching his 2020 campaign, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has already been dismissed as an afterthought by many in the political punditry. But while the mayor is being written off in many circles, he, clearly, has the attention of the man he’d eventually beat in order to win the White House.

Appearing on Morning Joe, Friday, de Blasio crowed about the fact that President Donald Trump tweeted about his entry into the race, and then posted a video blasting him.

“Con Don himself not only tweeted at me, he created his own video,” de Blasio cracked. “I was very impressed.

The mayor went on to roast Trump — firing off a series of barbs.

“There’s nothing about Donald Trump that surprises me, there’s nothing about him that intimidates me,” de Blasio said. “I look forward to fighting him head on. And you saw in that video, I’m already under his skin. And you need a candidate to take him on who knows his tricks, and knows how to deal with him. I did a counter video by the way, and I noted that his video was very low energy. I don’t know if you saw that. Very low energy.”
