Fox News Report Briefly Interrupted as Trey Yingst Captures Missiles Over Israel: ‘I Need To Know You’re in a Safe Location’
Fox News chief foreign correspondent Trey Yingst was one of the reporters on the ground to capture footage of Iranian missiles dropping on Israel on Tuesday. The incoming missile fire briefly interrupted Yingst’s live report, causing concern among his colleagues back in New York.
Yingst and his cameraman captured what appeared to be defense missiles intercepting ballistic missiles mid-air. Yingst reported from Haifa. Israel was warned by the White House early on Tuesday about an “imminent” attack from Iran.
Yingst’s camera crew filmed what appeared to be several interceptions when he briefly lost contact with Harris Faulkner, who was co-hosting Outnumbered during the attack.
“Trey, can you hear me? I want you to make sure that you’re in a safe location. If you need to step back —” Faulkner said as Yingst tried to reestablish contact.
“Confirm you’re with me, Harris,” Yingst said.
“I can hear you, can you hear me? You can. I need to know that you can hear me,” Faulkner said.
“Okay. I got you. I got you back,” Yingst responded.
Faulkner then said they’d cut away from Yingst as he gave instructions to his team.
“I need to know you’re in a safe location and that you can move away when necessary. And now we see several objects over where you are now exploding. Watch your back. If you need to step back, we’ll move on here and come back to you. Trey, take care of you and your photographer,” a concerned Faulkner said as she cut to correspondent Nate Foy.
Faulkner said Yingst and his crew were taking cover after setting up a camera to watch the skyline.
“Thank God you’re safe,” Faulkner told Yingst when he clocked back. According to Yingst, initial reports indicate more than 100 ballistic missiles were launched.
On other networks, anchors expressed similar concern for colleagues capturing the attack live. CNN’s Jim Sciutto had to race off a roof mid-report as missile fragments made impact close to his hotel.
“Jim, please take cover,” Dana Bash said as Sciutto cut out of the report. He later came back on from inside the hotel.
