Joe Biden in ‘Debilitating’ Pain as Hunter Biden Says His Dad’s Prostate Cancer Has Spread

Former President Joe Biden’s prostate cancer has spread, leaving him in “debilitating” pain, his son Hunter Biden said in a new interview.

Biden, 83, announced his diagnosis in May 2025.

“The cancer has spread, metastasized into his bones and further,” Hunter Biden said in the Friday interview with the BBC. “It’s very painful and it’s very debilitating in many respects.”

Hunter Biden appeared to choke up when he was asked about his father’s health.

“It’s really sad to watch,” the former president’s son said. “The only thing that I’d say about my dad, about his health right now, is I wish he would complain more, because it’s not good.”

“He’s still doing his thing,” he said. “He so believes in this country.”

The former president’s health took center stage as he lingered in his decision not to run for a second term, setting the stage for his vice president, Kamala Harris to run an election sprint in a bid to battle Donald Trump for the White House in November 2024.

Hunter Biden also admitted to the BBC that his addiction to crack cocaine contributed to his father’s health woes.

“Of course I did,” Hunter said. “That’s what addiction does. You know, I dig that most people would sit here and try to run from that question or be offended by it, but absolutely.”

Biden’s cognitive decline became the subject of intense debate in July 2024, after a disastrous debate performance against Trump, in which the then incumbent gave rambling answers and appeared to struggle to find his words.

At the time, Trump mocked Biden, saying, “I really don’t know what he said at the end of that sentence. I don’t think he knows what he said either.”

Biden said in a subsequent interview he was struggling with a cold at the time and denied any serious health problem.

“It was a bad episode. No indication of any serious condition. I was exhausted, I didn’t listen to my instincts,” he told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos.
