Kamala Harris Torches Trump’s First 100 Days as ‘Wholesale Abandonment’ of American ‘Ideals’: ‘Clearly Inviting a Recession’

Former Vice President Kamala Harris came out swinging Wednesday night, issuing her most blistering rebuke yet of President Donald Trump’s return to power — and slamming his tariffs strategy for creating the “greatest man-made economic crisis in modern presidential history.”

Speaking at the Emerge America gala in San Francisco, Harris hit the Trump administration with a scathing indictment of its first 100 days: “Instead of an administration working to advance America’s highest ideals, we are witnessing the wholesale abandonment of those ideals.”

Harris hammered Trump’s tariffs as “clearly inviting a recession,” and accused the White House of harming “workers and families by raising the cost of everyday essentials.”

“This is not chaos by accident,” Harris warned. “What we are, in fact, witnessing is a vessel being used for the swift implementation of an agenda that has been decades in the making.”

The former VP praised federal judges resisting executive overreach and protesters refusing to “scatter” in the face of “unconstitutional threats.”

She continued to call out Trump’s rapid-fire dismantling of the federal government, warning of a “high velocity event” to gut public institutions and funnel tax breaks to the wealthy.

“We are living in a moment when the checks and balances… have begun to buckle,” she said. “That is called a constitutional crisis.”

Harris, who is rumored to be eyeing California’s 2026 gubernatorial race and a possible 2nd presidential bid, stopped short of making any political announcements but did issue a call to action for Democrats.

“We are ready for it,” she said. “We are not going to scatter. We are going to stand together.”
