Mitch McConnell Shown in Another ‘Proof of Life’ Photo as Questions About Senator’s Health Looms

A new photo of Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was published Monday amid ongoing concerns about the senior lawmaker’s health.

McConnell was first hospitalized in June after he was found unconscious in his home. In the weeks following the incident, the public received few updates on the senator’s condition. This led to a great deal of speculation, with some people online even suggesting that McConnell was actually dead and that his passing was being covered up.

Approximately a month after McConnell’s hospitalization, his office posted a photo of him and his wife Elaine Chao. That photo brought a new wave of scrutiny, as some accused McConnell’s office of publishing an AI-generated image. That theory, however, was quickly shot down.

On Monday, McConnell’s office provided another photo of the senator with his wife. Similar to the first photo, it showed McConnell sitting up in a care facility with his wife by his side. The photo, as noted by Daily Mail, was dated July 26 and sent via email. McConnell’s doctor also said in the email that senator was continuing “his recovery from a fall at home in June.”

The new photo, however, appeared to do little to assuage concerns about McConnell’s condition. In a statement obtained by MS NOW producer Kyle Griffin, the Office of the Attending Physician of the United States Congress said McConnell was “not yet medically cleared to leave the rehab facility and return to the office.”
