There’s not much that can find bipartisan support these days, but early reactions to the news that Pam Bondi is out as attorney general were positive on both sides of the political aisle.

Fox News and other outlets confirmed reports on Thursday, citing White House officials, that Bondi had been fired by President Donald Trump and the search is on for a replacement.

Republicans who had been critical of Bondi’s controversial rollout of files related to late sex predator Jeffrey Epstein welcomed news of her leaving her position with open arms.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) expressed optimism over reports that EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin could be Trump’s choice to replace Bondi.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), who was behind legislation to release the Epstein files, put out his own poll asking whether Trump was right to fire Bondi and received an overwhelming “yes.”

Democrats also welcomed news of Bondi being removed.

Trump confirmed Bondi’s firing in a Truth Social post on Thursday. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche is taking Bondi’s position temporarily until a replacement is named.

“Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year. Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900,” wrote Trump. “We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future, and our Deputy Attorney General, and a very talented and respected Legal Mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as Acting Attorney General. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
