President Donald Trump confirmed on Truth Social Thursday that Pam Bondi would be leaving the Department of Justice for a job in the private sector.

“Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year,” Trump wrote.

“Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900. We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future, and our Deputy Attorney General, and a very talented and respected Legal Mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as Acting Attorney General.”

The news that Bondi was leaving the Department of Justice had broken earlier in the day.

Fox News Digital reported, “Bondi met with Trump in the Oval Office on Wednesday night ahead of his speech to the nation on the war in Iran where was reportedly informed of her ouster, according to two sources familiar with the meeting. One of those sources said that by the time Trump took his place behind the podium for the address, Bondi had already lost her job and was on her way back to Florida.”

Earlier on Thursday morning, Semafor’s Shelby Talcott had tweeted that “the president has informed Pam Bondi that her time as AG is nearing an end” and “all the normal caveats that he could change his mind apply.”

Fox News’ Peter Doocy reported on a conversation he had with Trump about Bondi’s ouster on air shortly before Trump himself weighed in.

Doocy said the president confirmed that there was “no bad blood” about Bondi leaving and that she would be installed in another government role. However, in a post on Truth Social, the president contradicted himself by revealing that Bondi would be moving into the private sector.

Todd Blanche, who will fill in for Bondi, wrote on X, “Pam Bondi led this Department with strength and conviction and I’m grateful for her leadership and friendship.”

He continued, “Thank you to President Trump for the trust and the opportunity to serve as Acting Attorney General. We will continue backing the blue, enforcing the law, and doing everything in our power to keep America safe.”
