Trump Gets HUGE Applause For Hyping the Death Penalty During Long Island Rally
President Donald Trump got a huge round of applause Friday during a rally on Long Island when he hyped the death penalty for cop killers.
Trump was speaking in front of a crowd of police and law enforcement when he noted his January 2025 order directing authorities to seek the death penalty for anyone convicted of killing a member of law enforcement.
“Shortly after taking office, I signed a historic executive order directing that anyone convicted of killing a police officer should face the death penalty,” Trump said.
The packed house at the David S. Mack Center for Training and Intelligence in Garden City, a law enforcement training center in Nassau County, cheered heartily as Trump made the remarks.
“And last year deaths of law enforcement — well, think of this. Deaths of law enforcement officers in the line of duty fell to an 80-year low. That means people aren’t playing games anymore,” he said as another round of applause broke out.
“It’s an 80-year low. Still too many, but it’s an 80-year low. Despite all of our extraordinary progress to restore safety to every community in our land, the radical left, Marxists, the communists- these are socialists. Socialists are no good, but remember I said at the State of the Union speech, we will not be a socialist country. I was right. They want to make us a communist country! They skipped socialism,” he said, chuckling.
Trump was on Long Island to endorse Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman (R) in his race for New York Governor against Kathy Hochul (D).
A Sienna University poll released Wednesday found Blakeman has closed the gap somewhat with Hochul, with likely voters backing the incumbent 49% to 39% who would choose Blakeman. The survey done between Aug. 3 and Aug. 6 included 811 likely voters.
In June, the gap was 52% for Hochul to just 32% for Blakeman, according to Sienna.
