Trump Warns BRICS Against Ditching The Dollar: ‘Go Find Another Sucker Nation!’

President Donald Trump is putting BRICS nations on notice, threatening them with a full-blown trade war if they attempt to sideline the U.S. dollar in global commerce.

In a fiery Truth Social post on Thursday night, the president declared that any country backing an alternative currency would be hit with 100 percent tariffs and effectively cut off from American markets. Trump made it clear there would be no room for negotiation, dismissing any possibility of an international shift away from the dollar.

The idea that the BRICS Countries are trying to move away from the Dollar, while we stand by and watch, is OVER. We are going to require a commitment from these seemingly hostile Countries that they will neither create a new BRICS Currency, nor back any other Currency to replace the mighty U.S. Dollar or, they will face 100% Tariffs, and should expect to say goodbye to selling into the wonderful U.S. Economy. They can go find another sucker Nation. There is no chance that BRICS will replace the U.S. Dollar in International Trade, or anywhere else, and any Country that tries should say hello to Tariffs, and goodbye to America!

The BRICS bloc—comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, along with newer members such as Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the UAE—has increasingly pushed for de-dollarization. Russian President Vladimir Putin, in particular, has called for expanded use of national currencies in trade among member nations.

On Friday, in response, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that BRICS is not planning to establish its own currency but is instead focused on developing joint investment platforms. He added that experts in the Trump administration should provide the president with a more detailed briefing on BRICS’ actual initiatives.
