WATCH: Heart Wrenching Video of 9-Year-Old Israeli Hostage Reunited With His Father

A 9-year-old Israeli hostage was reunited with his father after being taken by Hamas following the October 7th attack on Israel.
A video was released on social media Friday showing 9-year-old Ohad Munder running towards the arms of his father alongside his 55-year-old mother Keren Munder and his 78-year-old grandmother Ruti Munder.
Ohad and his family were among the 24 hostages released as part of the cease-fire negotiated between Israel and Hamas. His grandfather Avraham Munder is still being held hostage by Hamas in Gaza.
The young boy had his 9th birthday while being held by Hamas, which the U.S. has long labeled a terrorist organization. Schneider Medical Center released a clip of the moment Ohad jumped into his father’s arms and photos of Ohad solving a Rubik’s cube while being protected by IDF soldiers.

He was finally able to celebrate his belated birthday with ice cream, according to former Israeli government speechwriter Aviva Klompas in a post on X.
“Raise an ice cream to Ohad,” Klompas wrote. “He turned 9 as a hostage of Hamas. Today, he got to spend time with his friends and celebrate. May this boy know only sweetness in his life from this day forward.”

Approximately 50 Israeli hostages of the 240 taken by Hamas are expected to be released as a result of the ceasefire. On Saturday night, the militant group reportedly released a second batch of hostages, including 13 Israelis and 4 foreign-born hostages in exchange for 39 Palestinians.
