‘Adios, Amigos!’ CNN Data Guru Breaks Down ‘Bonkers’ Drop in Trump’s Support Among Hispanic Men
CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten detailed on Monday how President Donald Trump has lost a significant amount of support from Hispanic men.
In the immediate aftermath of Trump’s 2024 election win, much of the conversation revolved around the support he received from that specific group of voters. During the CNN News Central segment, Enten noted that Trump “put up a historically strong performance for a Republican candidate” among Hispanic men.
Since then, however, that support has cratered. In 2024, Trump won Hispanic men by 10 points over former Vice President Kamala Harris. At the time of writing, his net approval plummeted to -41.
“Down he goes into the Gulf of Mexico!” Enten said. “Minus-41 points in an average of polls this year. That is, [John Berman], by my math, a 51-point switcheroo against the president of the United States. All of that movement that you saw, that historic performance that President Trump had amongst Hispanic men, adios, amigos! Goodbye!”
Fueling that tanking support, Enten continued, was Trump’s handling of the economy. Around the time of the election, Hispanic men favored Trump on the economy over Harris by 10 points. As of Monday, Trump was a whopping 49 points underwater on the same issue.
“That is a 60-point move away from the President of the United States on the issue that got him re-elected to a second term,” Enten said. “It really helped swing Hispanic men into the Republican column to a historic degree; and all of that movement, all that hard work that Republicans made and did for the 2024 election, it all is just basically gone at this point. A huge swing back against the Republican President Donald John Trump.”
Enten also predicted that Trump’s declining support among Hispanic men would have a “massive impact” on the upcoming midterm elections. According to polling, that voting bloc favored Democrats by 20 points.
“If you’re a Republican running for re-election, or Republican running for Congress these midterm elections, and you think you’re going to escape the wrath that President Trump has now amongst Hispanic men, you are sorely, sorely mistaken,” Enten continued, “These are bonkers shifts, and Democrats have to really like these numbers.”
