Dem Goes On Fox News To Blast Mamdani As ‘Job Killing Socialist’

Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) went on Fox News to blast New York City Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani as a “job killing socialist” and to tell New Yorkers they have a home in New Jersey if they want to flee the Big Apple.

Gottheimer joined Kayleigh McEnany on Fox News’ Saturday in America and blasted Mamdani as the self-described Democratic socialist is leading in polls by double digits against former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa.

Gottheimer’s criticism of Mamdani follows House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) finally endorsing the candidate. Gottheimer said while he respects Jeffries, he doesn’t believe Mamdani even belongs in the Democratic Party.

He said:

Mandami is a job-killing socialist, and he’s not a Democrat, right? He shouldn’t be in the Democratic Party. He’s an admitted socialist. He should be in the Socialist Party. And as good of a campaign as he’s run, I have very strong disagreements with his views, whether you’re talking about government-run grocery stores, obviously his continued anti-Semitic rhetoric, refusal to condemn phrases like globalizing Intifada, which is a call for the killing of the Jewish people. So we couldn’t be more different in our views. I think we need common sense Democrats and common sense views, and I just don’t think Mamdami right now carries those views.

Gottheimer told New Yorkers looking to flee the city if Mamdani is elected should jump over to New Jersey.

“We want you!” he declared.

He said:

There’s a few of us who’ve obviously been pretty public about it, and probably there’s a lot of people who are concerned. But I’d make this point, if you live outside the metro area here in Jersey and New York and the area here, this is less of an issue that’s front and center for you because you’re focused on issues that matter to your district and your families, right? I’m very focused on lower taxes, supporting cops and firefighters and veterans and doing everything we can to get health care costs down and make life more affordable for folks. And my colleagues, when I talk to them, whether it’s in Ohio or California or wherever, and they say the same thing, like, that’s not an issue for us out here. I’m focused on what matters to the people I represent.
