‘I’m a Clown, I’m a Clown’: Anti-Israel Guest Buckles Under Grilling From Piers Morgan Over Pushing Charlie Kirk Conspiracy
Piers Morgan pulled no punches when confronting Egyptian comedian Bassem Youssef for suggesting that Israel was behind the killing of MAGA influencer Charlie Kirk.
Morgan began the lengthy exchange by playing some of Youssef’s own words back to him, and the two tussled over his wild suggestion that Israel was somehow behind the killing of Kirk. Youssef initially denied he made the claim outright, but defended it by saying the “FBI is lying to us” and “I have doubts.”
As the interview wound down, Morgan insisted, “Some of this bashing is never enough for you, you see. It doesn’t matter how critical journalists are about Israel, it will never be enough for you. Because you want the right—you want the right to suggest that Charlie Kirk was the subject of a hit job by Israel.”
“You want the world to think that. That’s why you said what you said. And that’s why when I ask you, Netanyahu says it wasn’t him,” Morgan insisted.
Youssef, “By the way, I’m not even the only one. People are actually here to think—if you continue lying to your people, right, I’ll tell you what: let’s call me a conspiracy theorist, right? Call me someone who is illogical. Call me whatever you want. If your government continues to lie to you consistently, this is where conspiracy theories thrive. If you’re not transparent—”
Morgan pushed back, “Why do you want to be one of them?”
Youssef replied, “No, no, no. I’m not saying I’m one of them.”
Morgan demanded, “Why float a mad conspiracy theory about Israel?”
Youssef hit back, “Because it’s the internet and I’m a comedian.”
Morgan replied, “Okay, but it’s not that funny though, is it?”
“Actually, a lot of people thought it was very funny,” Youssef insisted.
“You have millions—I’m sure that did—but millions of people follow you, and you want them to think that Israel was behind the murder of Charlie Kirk. And you call me an ill-informed, irresponsible journalist,” Morgan replied.
Youssef, “I’m a comedian, remember? I’m a clown. I’m a clown.”
Morgan replied, “I don’t think you’re a clown!”
Youssef doubled down, “That’s what I do! Oh, I’m a clown—actually, I’m a comedian. Comedians are actually over—”
“But I think you’re somebody who is so blindly hateful of all things Israel that you’ll even promote a conspiracy theory,” Morgan concluded.
Youssed replied, “I’m not blindly hateful of Israel. Actually, I am eyes wide open hateful of Israel.”
