WATCH: Woman Spits on Ed Martin on Live TV After Trump Drops His D.C. Nomination

Conservative lawyer Ed Martin’s interview with Newsmax Thursday took a shocking turn when he was spat on by a passerby in broad daylight as he talked about President Donald Trump’s abrupt decision to pull his nomination for U.S. Attorney in Washington, D.C.

The shocking scene played out as a woman walking her dog stormed into the shot as Martin was in mid-sentence.

“You are Ed Martin,” she said, jabbing a finger toward him before spitting on him at close range and storming off, leaving a visibly shaken Martin speechless.

“You are a disgusting man,” she shouted.

The on-air ambush came mere hours after Trump announced he was withdrawing Martin’s nomination over blowback over the conservative’s résumé and past support for Jan. 6 rioters. Instead, Trump tapped Fox News fixture Judge Jeanine Pirro for the high-profile role.

“He’s a terrific person, and he wasn’t getting the support from people that I thought,” Trump told reporters Thursday, offering Martin a consolation post as an associate deputy attorney general and pardon attorney. Martin’s stint as acting U.S. attorney in D.C. will end May 20.
