Max Miller Stuns Newsmax Host With Claim His Ex-Father-in-Law Offered $5M to His Ex-Wife to Ditch Family

Rep. Max Miller (R-OH) claimed his ex-wife was such a violent menace that his former father-in-law, Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH), offered her $5 million to “go away” and leave her own family alone.

The embattled lawmaker made the stunning accusation during a Tuesday night Newsmax interview.

A source close to Moreno shot down the claim soon after, telling Semafor’s Burgess Everett it was “totally false” and Miller had “totally made up” the story.

Miller’s claim was so incendiary— and his wording was so confusing — that host Rob Finnerty had to stop the interview to ask him to explain it further.

During the same interview, Miller also claimed his former wife, Emily Moreno, had bipolar disorder and was once committed to a mental institution.

“In his own words, he told me that I could leave his daughter if I wanted to and he offered her $5 million to go away,” Miller said. “These are private conversations that we’ve had together, and unfortunately him and I were very close—”

Finnerty then jumped in to clarify, “Bernie Moreno offered his own daughter $5 million to leave you?”

“No, no, no. Bernie Moreno offered his daughter $5 million to leave him and the family,” Miller said.

“Explain that,” Finnerty told him.

“Several years ago, Emily was such a problem for the family that Bernie Moreno — as Emily has told me, as well as her siblings — that in an argument, Ms. Moreno dislocated Mr. Moreno’s finger in an argument and offered her $5 million to leave the family forever,” Miller said.

“Do you have any proof of that, congressman?” Finnerty asked.

“Besides me being there as a witness within the family when we had good times, yeah, I was there, and I can affirm that to be true,” Miller answered.

Newsmax said in an article about Miller’s appearance, “An attorney for Emily Moreno has denied Miller’s allegation that she has bipolar disorder. Miller also did not provide documented proof of his claim that Sen. Moreno offered her $5 million to leave the family.”

Miller’s interview followed his ex-wife alleging Miller pointed a gun at her head, attacked her with scalding water, and fractured their 2-year-old daughter’s collarbone. He has denied the accusations.

Mediaite’s Michael Luciano shared more details on the whirling controversy surrounding Miller:

Stephanie Grisham, who served as Trump’s White House communications director and press secretary in the first term and dated Miller in 2019 and 2020, has also accused Miller of abuse. A third woman said that while she and Miller were in high school, Miller pushed a girl out of his room and she fell down some stairs.

Axios reported on Monday that Trump phoned Miller and told the congressman that “things aren’t looking good.”

Sen. Moreno has called on Miller to step down, as have a handful of other Republican senators.

Miller has denied the abuse claims.

His Newsmax appearance followed a Tuesday interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper that left many viewers baffled.

Among them was one GOP operative, who asked, “I mean what the absolute f*ck was that?” according to CNN reporter Sarah Ferris.
