A firefighter in Dallas is in surgery on Monday after he was shot by a gunman who police are still trying to pin down.
Early reports indicate that local police and fire services were called out to East Dallas, and they came under fire at around 11:30 A.M. local time. The Dallas Police Association tweeted that a first responder was struck during the firefight.

Emergency services are still active around the area as they try to arrest the perpetrator. Local residents are being advised to take cover and avoid the area.
The fireman who was shot has been taken to a local hospital, though the specifics of his condition have not been confirmed.
