CNN’s Jim Acosta: Trump’s Speech Threatening War With North Korea ‘Made the UNGA Say OMG’
While recapping President Donald Trump’s jarring address at the United Nations General Assembly, CNN correspondent Jim Acosta likened the stunning speech to Trump’s activity on Twitter.
“In a tweetstorm of a speech to the United Nations, President Trump jumped from one jaw-dropping warning to the next,” Acosta said during a CNN report, prior to playing a clip of Trump calling North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un “Rocket Man” while threatening to “totally destroy” North Korea.
Acosta also noted that he was told by a senior official that the “Rocket Man” line — something Trump first used on Twitter — was added just this morning to the speech. He told anchor Wolf Blitzer that Trump’s threat to go to war with North Korea and other provocative moments “made the UNGA say OMG.”
During Trump’s speech this morning, Acosta took to Twitter describe the address as nothing more than a bunch of the president’s tweets clumped together:
UN speech was a lot of Trump tweets strung together. Saber-rattling. But no clear doctrine. Threats of confrontation around the world.
