ESPN Radio host Colin Cowherd is leaving the network and his show “The Herd with Colin Cowherd,” multiple sources told USA Today‘s The Big Lead.
“While no destination is finalized, talks are progressing towards a deal with Fox Sports,” reporter Ryan Glasspiegel writes. “The move away from the Mothership does not come as much of a surprise for anyone who follows these things closely, or has been listening to Cowherd’s show for the past few months.”
In a statement to the media, ESPN president John Skipper confirmed the departure. “We’ve enjoyed a mutually beneficial run with Colin for over a decade. He came to national prominence on ESPN with his unique perspective on sports and society. Endings also bring new beginnings, for ESPN and Colin, and we thank him and wish him the best.”
Cowherd was also an occasionally guest and guest host on ESPN’s television networks. His departure comes a week after Keith Olbermann announced his own ESPN departure, and after Grantland’s Bill Simmons left ESPN in May.
