It wouldn’t look too good if environmentalists left a bunch of trash strewn about New York City but that’s what some of the movement’s critics are claiming happened during the People’s Climate March this past Sunday.
Several photos made their way around social media purporting to show garbage inappropriately discarded around the city’s streets during or after the march.
“Somehow this doesn’t seem too green to me,” tweeted Vicki Kellar with a photo attached of a pile of food containers in a street gutter:

“Their love for the earth is so real, they couldn’t even use a trash can,” tweeted Chelsea Elisa with a photo of abandoned drink containers on top of a what appears to be a street mailbox:

Similar photos from the event were posted at the New York Post and the Daily Mail.
CNN’s Sally Kohn claimed on Twitter that the photos were fake but did not cite any evidence:
