Gamers Are Losing Their Minds Over Nintendo’s E3 Announcement About The New Super Smash Bros. Game

Nintendo’s showcase at the massive gaming conference E3 on Tuesday left fans reeling for a lot of different reasons, but the most shocking and exciting development for most was that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch – the newest installment in the 19-year-old franchise – will bring back every single playable character ever featured in the games.

This means that characters who were unplayable since as early as 2001 will be back in the fray, and the confirmed roster tallies over 60 playable characters, complete with new costumes and move sets to try out. New fighters will also be introduced, and Nintendo came out swinging with the introduction of the Metroid series nemesis Ridley as a playable character, a development fans have been hoping for for a long time.

That’s a ton of new content, and longtime Smash fans and casual gamers alike are freaking out about it. Twitter was ablaze today with memes lauding the franchise’s creator and director, Masahiro Sakurai, for the bounty he has bestowed upon his fans:
