George W. Bush Does #IceBucketChallenge
President Barack Obama opted not to do the viral Ice Bucket Challenge but his predecessor was game for it.
“To you all who challenged me, I do not think it’s presidential for me to be splashed with ice water,” former president George W. Bush says in a video for NBC’s Today. “So, I’m simply going to write you a check.”
Enter Laura Bush to dump a bucket of ice water on Bush’s head.
“That check is from me,” the former first lady says. “I don’t want to ruin my hairstyle.”
At the end of the video, Bush challenges former president Bill Clinton.
For the uninitiated, here’s how the challenge, which benefits charities fighting Lou Gehrig’s disease, works: If the person “challenged” agrees to have a bucket of iced water poured on his or her head, the challenger then has to pay money to the charity. If the challenged person doesn’t agree, he or she then has to pay. And on and on it goes.
