‘I Think You’re a Racial Opportunist!’: InfoWars Correspondent Tries to Battle Van Jones in Street Debate
“I don’t believe Donald Trump is a racist,” said CNN commentator Van Jones when he was stopped on the streets of Cleveland last week by InfoWars’ Owen Shroyer. The conservative contributor to the Alex Jones-helmed site and his posse stopped Jones and begged him to humor them about Donald Trump‘s racist views.
“I think Donald Trump is worse than a racist,” Jones continued.
What followed was an epic 30-minute debate on the street like a cable news meets Rocky V hybrid, all captured on amateur video of Jones schooling Shroyer, who goes by the lovely moniker Carl the Cuck Slayer. “A racist is someone who believes his group is superior to another group. That’s a racist; that’s pretty bad… but Trump is worse than that. Trump is a racial opportunist,” said Jones, as bystanders stopped for a hello from the TV vet.
“I think you’re a racial opportunist!” meekly replied Shroyer. Jones quickly questioned the character of the young man who continually interrupted without listening to a different perspective.
“He uses other people’s racial anxieties,” explained Jones about Trump. Shroyer called into question a litany of racially-based storylines that have dominated the national conversation, including Black Lives Matter and the shooting death of Michael Brown. For each gotcha topic that Shroyer tried to hit Jones with, the former Obama administration official hit right back, including one particularly memorable analogy about conservatives having their eyes covered by mommy and not being able to realize that the “nasty peas” are still on the plate.
“I gotta be honest,” admitted Shroyer, “I’ve been one of the biggest haters of Van Jones probably on the internet. I’m gonna go ahead and walk back some of my hate for Van Jones.”
Points Jones.
