Jesse Watters on Chicago Torture Video: I Bet ‘This Story Gets Much Less Coverage Than Dylann Roof’
During today’s broadcast of Fox News’ The Five, co-host Jesse Watters criticized the mainstream media coverage of the Chicago torture video, which has now led to four young black adults being charged with a hate crime over the beating and torture of a young mentally disabled white man. The video showed the assailants shouting “f*ck Donald Trump! F*ck white people!”
After it was noted that Fox News’ Tucker Carlson reported on the case right away and the panel criticized CNN’s Don Lemon questioning whether the attack was “evil,” Watters and Juan Williams got into a discussion about this being a hate crime, with Watters indicating there’d be more outrage if this happened to a black kid.
Williams eventually invoked Dylann Roof, the avowed white supremacist who was recently convicted of murdering nine black people at a church. Watters responded that the trial around this won’t get nearly as much attention as Roof’s did.
“Are there going to be satellite trucks parked outside this trial in Chicago like there were at Dylann Roof’s trial,” Watters asked. “I doubt it.”
Watters then bet Williams that “this story gets much less coverage than Dylann Roof.”
After Williams said this will get a lot of attention in this political climate, Greg Gutfeld chimed in, explaining that “Dylann Roof killed people” and stated that we should look at these situations differently.
