Joe Scarborough Owns Up False Claims About Previous Presidents Not Throwing Military Parades

Joe Scarborough fessed up to a factual mistake he made yesterday when he talked about the history of military parades in America.

Like many others, Scarborough has been dismissive of President Donald Trump‘s reported plan to hold his own military parade in the middle of Washington. However, when the matter came up again on Thursday’s Morning Joe, the eponymous host admitted he was incorrect about the precedent for such events.

In 1953, Dwight D. Eisenhower‘s inauguration day parade featured tanks and other military equipment, which reflected how America was still in the middle of the Cold War. As Scarborough acknowledged these facts, he noted that military parades really don’t happen in America anymore, and he snarked about people who support having an expensive parade for Trump’s “vanity,” even though they always complain about how the military and the troops never get enough money.
