House Ethics Committee Announces Investigation Into Another Member of Congress

Yet another member of Congress is now under investigation by the House Ethics Committee.

Lance Gooden (R-TX) is subject to a probe by the House Committee on Ethics after it received a referral from the Office of Congressional Conduct on June 10, according to a statement released Monday by the panel.

Details of the allegation or allegations against Gooden are not yet known.

Gooden, 43, is the seventh member of Congress to be investigated by the committee this year.

He was elected to Texas’s 5th District, which makes up Dallas, Henderson, Kaufman, Van Zandt, Wood, and Upshur Counties, in 2018.

Before that, he served three terms in the Texas House of Representatives, according to his bio.

Other current and former lawmakers probed by the House Ethics Committee recently include Chuck Edwards (R-NC), Eric Swalwell (D-CA), Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL), Tony Gonzalez (R-TX), Cory Mills (R-FL), and Nancy Mace (R-SC).

The Committee will announce its findings in the Gooden probe on or before November 9, according to the statement.
