Leonard Nimoy passed away at the age of 83 yesterday. William Shatner, who apparently did not follow through on his threat to junk Twitter for its promoted followers feature, remembered his longtime Star Trek costar on the social media platform Friday and Saturday, with his initial tweet garnering almost 40,000 retweets:
"I loved him like a brother. We will all miss his humor, his talent, and his capacity to love."

On Saturday, Shatner regretted he couldn’t make it to Nimoy’s funeral, as he was stuck in Florida for a charity gig, but encouraged his 2.1 million followers to remember Nimoy during the service:
I am so humbled by the worldwide outpouring of love that has been displayed; words cannot express my feelings.

There are so many people who I need to say thank you to.

I've been avoiding social media (actually all media) for the past 24 hours. So I do apologize.

I am currently in FL as I agreed to appear at the Red Cross Ball tonight. Leonard's funeral is tomorrow. I can't make it back in time.

I feel really awful. Here I am doing charity work and one of my dearest friends is being buried.

So maybe tomorrow we come together here and celebrate his life.

So let's spend some time tomorrow celebrating Leonard's life and remembering the man.
