Recently, we posted about the soap opera acting exploits of ESPN First Take host Stephen A. Smith — who turned in a solid cameo on General Hospital on Feb. 3.
But whether you feel Smith is more likely to win an Oscar or a Razzie, it’s clear that he’s better off getting back in front of the camera than trying his luck as a basketball player. Because on Tuesday, the man demonstrated that he is sorely lacking in skills.
As part of a feature for First Take, Smith participated in a shootaround with Houston Rockets star James Harden. To give you an indication of how things went, Harden posted some of the footage to his Twitter account with the caption, “Stick to your day job.”
In Harden’s clip, Smith fired up a pair of shots from 3-point range. The first was an air ball that didn’t even come close to hitting the rim. The second did draw iron, but it too could only be properly classified as a brick.
Moreover, Smith’s form looks to be way off. The footage is not the best quality, but it appears as though Smith shoots two-handed jumpers. He gets hardly any arc on them, which among other things makes it very difficult to get a friendly bounce.
Harden and Smith had a good-natured Twitter exchange after the Rockets’ star posted the clip.
