Actor and director Dennis Hopper died over the weekend at the age of 74. Perhaps most famous for the movie Easy Rider, which he directed, co-wrote, and starred in, Hopper had a long career which included both mainstream and independent, blockbuster and little-known films.
Said the London Telegraph: “Hopper was more than just an actor/director. He was also a producer, screenwriter, photographer, painter and art collector who knew or worked with almost every significant American artist of the second half of the 20th century. Yet despite his achievements and a list of friends that ranged from James Dean through Miles Davis and William Burroughs to Claes Oldenburg, Hopper was as famous for addictions and his “lost” years as for his enormous, if uneven, productivity.”
Below is a selection of Hopper’s work…this is obviously just the tip of the iceberg, so please feel free to leave your own suggestions in the comments section.
