It’s one of the great American traditions on this, one of its great National holidays.
For the 91st time, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade makes its way through the streets of New York City.
All of the traditional favorites — some new, some old — will make an appearance. Snoopy, Spongebob Squarepants, and Clifford the Big Red Dog are among those on the ledger.
As for this year’s musical acts, Gwen Stefani kicks things off with a performance of “White Christmas.” Harry Connick Jr., Wyclef Jean, and Patti LaBelle are among the other musicians who will appear during the three-hour broadcast.
Some other celebrities will be featured as well. Jimmy Fallon, Whoopi Goldberg, and Steve Harvey are among those who are slated to appear on Thursday morning.
None of the attractions, though, be they human or balloon, can possibly compare to the man who closes the show each year — Jolly Old St. Nick. Yes, Santa Claus gets top billing in the Macy’s, as always. For when Santa comes rolling through New York’s Herald Square to the roar of a massive crowd sometime around 11:55 a.m. ET, the Christmas season will begin in earnest.
Conditions for the parade stand to be frigid. Temperatures are expected to hover slightly above freezing, with sunny skies and winds of approximately 10 miles per hour.
The parade begins 9 a.m. ET and will conclude at 12 noon. Watch above, via Verizon — which is presenting the parade in what it is describing as an “immersive” stream that you, the viewer, can actually control.
