‘Don’t Turn This Into a Drinking Game’: Nikki Haley Warns Viewers Not to Take a Drink Every Time DeSantis Lies
Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley came out swinging at the CNN debate against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, responding to his attacks in his opening statements, pitching a website her campaign launched about “DeSantis Lies,” and joking with the college student audience they shouldn’t turn it into a drinking game.
Haley and DeSantis were at Drake University Wednesday evening for the final debate before the Iowa caucuses next Monday, moderated by CNN anchors Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.
In his opener, DeSantis accused Haley of running to “do her donors’ bidding.”
Haley began her comments by saying that America needed “a new generation leader,” and arguing that she had the “executive experience” as a two-term governor and former U.S. Ambassador to the UN.
The voters would “find out tonight” there were “a lot of Ron’s lies,” said Haley, “at least a couple dozen so far.”
“So what we’re going to do is rather than have him go and tell you all these lies, you can go to DesantisLies.com, and look at all those, at least two dozen lies that he’s told about me.”
“He is only mad about the donors, because the donors used to be with him, but they’re no longer with him now,” she continued. “And that’s because he is upset about the fact that his campaign is exploding.”
“But every time he lies, Drake University, don’t turn this into a drinking game because you will be overserved by the end of the night,” Haley concluded as the audience laughed.
