Outgoing Rep. Madison Cawthorn vowed to activate “Dark MAGA” mode in his first Instagram post since Tuesday’s primary, which he narrowly lost.

Cawthorn posted a graphic with the names of people he considers “America First Patriots.” The list includes people such as Tucker Carlson, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY).

In a 182-word screed, the 26-year old changed his tenor, fewer than 48 hours after he was defeated by North Carolina state Rep. Chuck Edwards (R), who he congratulated.

“When the establishment turned their guns on me, when the Uni-party coalesced to defeat an America First member very few people had my back,” he wrote. “This list includes the lion share of figures that came to my defense when it was not politically profitable.”

Cawthorn then praised the people in his list, and vowed an iteration of MAGA which is not Ultra, Mega or Premium, but “Dark”:

There are other National figures who I believe are patriots, but I am on a mission now to expose those who say and promise one thing yet legislate and work towards another, self-profiteering, globalist goal. The time for gentile politics as usual has come to an end. It’s time for the rise of the new right, it’s time for Dark MAGA to truly take command. We have an enemy to defeat, but we will never be able to defeat them until we defeat the cowardly and weak members of our own party. Their days are numbered. We are coming.

After he conceded to Edwards, Cawthorn asked his voters to “rally around” the mild-mannered McDonald’s franchisee in order to “defeat the Democrats’ nominee this November.”

In the lead up to his primary defeat, Cawthorn claimed scandals he enveloped himself in were part of a larger campaign to destroy him.
