Meghan McCain Urges Trump to Hire Laura Loomer to ‘Research Foreign Students All Day and Find an Excuse to Block Them’

Conservative commentator Meghan McCain offered her seal of approval on Wednesday for Laura Loomer to work in the Trump administration and vet the social media accounts of foreign students. Loomer, the far-right activist and longtime conspiracy theorist, is best known for her outlandish rhetoric and for having the ear of President Donald Trump.
“The White House is considering doing vetting on the social media accounts of foreign students. Sounds like a dream job for me. I would love to research foreign students all day and find an excuse to block them from coming into our country based on their radicalism,” Loomer wrote on X.
“Sign me up,” she added.
McCain, the former co-host of The View turned online content creator, agreed with Loomer, writing, “Legit – give her this job.”
Loomer has long been a controversial figure in right-wing circles, having twice failed in high-profile bids for Congress. Laura Trump grabbed headlines in 2020 for campaigning alongside Loomer, who was best known at the time for calling Islam a “cancer” and declaring herself a “proud Islamophobe.” Loomer’s comments previously got her banned from Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram – as well as ridesharing apps Uber and Lyft after she tweeted “someone needs to create a non Islamic form of Uber or Lyft because I never want to support another Islamic immigrant driver.”
Loomer also stirred controversy during the 2024 presidential election as she traveled with then-candidate Trump on 9/11 to memorial services. Loomer’s presence with Trump stirred anger as she had suggested in the past that the 9/11 terror attacks were an “inside job.”
In recent weeks, however, Loomer has been seen as a driving force behind some of Trump’s key decisions, including removing his National Security Advisor Mike Waltz – who has since been named as UN ambassador.
Needless to say, Loomer working within the national security apparatus of the U.S. government vetting foreigners, would certainly stir additional controversy given her long history of anti-Islam and anti-immigrant comments as well as her penchant for promoting conspiracies.
