President Donald Trump said Saturday that the Duke of Sussex was safe from being removed from the country for the time being while slamming his wife Meghan Markle in comments to The New York Post.

Prince Harry’s immigration status has become the subject of controversy as of late with organizations such as the conservative Heritage Foundation suggesting the embattled British royal previously concealed illicit drug use that should have disqualified him from receiving a US visa.

Trump weighed in on the matter while speaking to Post columnist Miranda Devine. Trump implied Harry’s marriage to Markle was punishment enough, so exploring expelling him from US soil might be an extreme measure.

“I don’t want to do that,” the president said. “I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”

Trump’s issues with the duke and duchess are well-documented, while Markle has described the president as “divisive” and “misogynistic.” Trump claimed Harry was “whipped” by Markle during a 2022 interview with Piers Morgan.

“I won’t use the full expression, but Harry is whipped like no person I think I’ve ever seen,” Trump said. “I’m not a fan of Meghan, I’m not a fan, and I wasn’t right from the beginning. I think poor Harry is being led around by his nose.”

After Morgan asked him if he believed the marriage would end in divorce, Trump predicted Harry would end up crawling back to the UK to mend fences with his family.

“I do, I’ve been a very good predictor, as you know, I’ve predicted almost everything, it’ll end, and it’ll end bad,” Trump told Morgan. “I wonder if Harry’s going to go back on his hands and knees and say please. You know, I think Harry’s been led down a path.”

During Saturday’s interview with Devine, Trump praised Harry’s older brother Prince William, describing him as “a great young man.”

The Prince of Wales and Trump met back in December during the reopening of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
