Brian Kilmeade Says Trump Didn’t Get Laughed at By United Nations: ‘Good, Unscripted Moment!’
The latest controversy surrounding President Donald Trump’s unintended laugh line at United Nations has become perfect cable news fodder. For example, MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski called it a “significant moment” that signals a time where the world is laughing at the US President and that America’s become the butt of a big joke.
Her take was not the only such critique one might find on the usual opinion-based news-ish programs, but enter Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade to quickly come to rescue the diplomatic reputation of the commander in chief.
“I liked when everyone laughed afterward,” Kilmeade said before pivoting to assail presidential critics, adding he was “taken aback by the way other people said the world is laughing at us. I think they were having fun.”
Some background? Well the U.N. General Assembly laughed at Trump within the first minute of his speech before the body, after a particularly lofty brag about his administration’s accomplishments. “In less than two years, my administration has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country,” Trump said.
As laughter broke out in the hall, Trump added, “So true.” Following more laughter, Trump said, “Didn’t expect that reaction, but that’s okay.”
“It was good, unscripted moment in a very scripted situation” Kilmeade claimed, adding “I couldn’t believe how people twisted it.”
