CNN’s Acosta After Sparring With Stephen Miller: He’s Sending Out a ‘Dog Whistle’

CNN’s Jim Acosta had a pretty fierce back-and-forth with White House advisor Stephen Miller over immigration today, and afterwards Acosta appeared on CNN to react to some of Miller’s “insults.”

At one point when Acosta pressed Miller on whether they’re just going to let in people from Great Britain and Australia, Miller blasted him for asking that and said it shows his “cosmopolitan bias.”

Acosta told Brooke Baldwin a bit later, “You can be Cuban and cosmopolitan, Brooke.”

He also remarked upon how it doesn’t look good when “when the White House has to resort to insulting reporters in that fashion.”

Acosta made an observation about what the preference for English-speaking immigrants signals:

“When you hear the President make some of the comments he makes about immigrants… and when you see Stephen Miller, a policy advisor to the President, talking about an English-language preference for people coming into this country, it is a wink, it is a dog whistle to certain parts of this country that they’re going to be looking at the racial and ethnic flow of immigrants coming into this country. I just think that’s undeniable.”
