CNN’s Toobin Slams Trump Admin’s Response to Puerto Rico: Maybe ‘This Wasn’t a Priority’

CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin said that maybe the Trump administration hasn’t taken swifter action on Puerto Rico because “this wasn’t a priority.”

The panel on The Situation Room tonight discussed the White House’s response to the humanitarian crisis unfolding and whether President Trump has been too “distracted.”

Wolf Blitzer said he doesn’t understand why it took “until today” for the Pentagon to appoint Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Buchanan to head response efforts.

Toobin said this in response:

“Maybe it’s because they didn’t care. Maybe it’s because this wasn’t a priority. I mean, what other conclusion can you draw from watching this response? I mean, we know, I think very clearly, the President’s position on whether football players should stand during [the] national anthem. I think that’s been established very clearly. As for his view of whether these Americans in Puerto Rico should expect any help from the federal government any time soon, Donald Trump has been among the missing, and he continues to be among the missing, ’cause he doesn’t like bad news.”
