Colbert Scorns Kavanaugh: Trump Had ’19 Credible Allegations’ Against Him, So ‘Save Your Indignation’

On Thursday night, Stephen Colbert lashed out against Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh over his testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Colbert mocked Kavanaugh for various remarks, including one when he said that “today… I fear for the future.”

“#MeToo,” Colbert reacted. “Though if you just started that today, you’re a little late to the party.”

He later showed a clip of Kavanaugh talking about his passion for coaching, saying “I love coaching more than anything I have done in my whole life.”

“So go do that!” Colbert exclaimed. “Follow your passion!”

The Late Show host then had some fun at the expense of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) for his fiery speech that blasted Democrats for their handling of the confirmation.

“Wow, somebody really grew a pair when the ‘scary doctor lady’ left the room,” Colbert quipped.

However, Colbert saved his most brutal stuff for last in reaction to the following quote from Kavanaugh:

“You sowed the wind for decades to come I fear that the whole country will reap the whirlwind.”

“You really need a better weatherman because- let me tell brother, this is the whirlwind,” Colbert told Kavanaugh. “And the wind was sown when Donald Trump had 19 credible allegations of sexual assault against him, bragged about sexual assault on tape, and your Republican buddies up on that committee said, “Yeah, but we want our guy on the Supreme Court.’ And that’s you, Brett. That doesn’t mean you’re guilty, but please, save your indignation that finally someone is taking one woman’s accusation of sexual assault seriously.”
