Devin Nunes Claims, With a Straight Face, That Truth Social Has More Engagement Than Twitter

Devin Nunes claimed that Truth Social ––  former President Donald Trump’s social media platform — has more engagement than Twitter.

“Twitter right now is nothing but a PR wire. It’s got a global footprint buts there’s just nobody there and I mean,” Nunes told Maria Bartiromo on Monday morning. “How do you explain how we have more engagement on Truth social than they have on Twitter?”

While Nunes boasted about the platform’s engagement, not even Trump is using his own social media app.

Trump has only posted on his platform once — on Feb. 21 — writing, “Get ready! Your favorite President will see you soon!”

The app has reportedly faced a myriad of issues since its February launch. The platform can only be accessed through the Apple App Store and is not available to Andriod users.

According to a March 29 report from The Wrap, signups to the platform had plunged 93 percent since its launch, while a Daily Dot reporter cited security concerns after managing to access an internal beta version with the handle @realDonaldTrump.

While speaking with Bartiromo, Nunes assured viewers that, unlike Twitter, Truth has ensured that all accounts are linked to a real person and not a bot.

“99.9 percent of our users are real people and that’s what we want. We want real people, real engagement — interacting with each other,” he said. “It’s what social media was supposed to be until back in the 2017, ’18 timeframe, they started banning Americans that they didn’t like.”

Despite the claim, Mediaite’s Sarah Rumpf, who joined the app in this month, reported that there are several bots and fake accounts on the site.

Insider’s Rosie Bradbury similarly found that the platform was “a conservative ghost town that had been overrun by bots.”
