Maher and Panel Rip Trump Over Response to Arrested Coast Guard Lt.: He Has ‘Malignant Narcissistic Personality Disorder’
During a panel discussion on Bill Maher‘s Real Time, host Maher said that President Donald Trump is a malignant narcissist and that’s why he’s a traitor.
The conversation started with talk of Christopher Paul Hasson, the Coast Guard lieutenant who had amassed a stockpile of weapons and a hit list of media and political figures.
“Trump this week again talking about the press is the enemy of the people,” Maher said, referring to Hasson and mail bomber Cesar Sayoc. “How many times does this have to happen before we realize that these guys are the Son of Sam killers and he is the dog that they are listening to?”
He then noted that Trump told the press he thinks his language is “very nice” when asked if he has any responsibility regarding his own rhetoric.
Panelist Claire McCaskill then said that the thing that was “weird” about the whole thing is that it just seems so hard for Trump to stand up and say the acts of people like Hasson are outrageous.
Fellow panelist Rick Wilson then suggested the secret to understanding why Trump can’t condemn their actions is that there is a metric in Trump’s mind all the time and that metric is “do they like me.”
That is when Maher said this calling Trump a narcissist and traitor: “[Trump] has a disease, it’s called malignant narcissistic personality disorder. I’ve said this before. Every article that you read about Donald Trump should begin with President Trump who suffers from malignant narcissist — nothing else explains it.”
He added: “It’s why he’s a traitor, it’s why he’s this way just like you said, it’s only if you like me or you don’t.”
