In the tabloid war between the New York Post and New York Daily News, you can mark this one in the “win” column for the right-leaning Post.
Just a day after FBI Director James Comey made the stunning declaration that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would not face charges regarding her handling of classified information on a private email server, the Post used its cover page to illustrate how it really feels about the Democratic presumptive nominee:
Tomorrow’s cover: The FBI just told us we’d be in bad hands with Hillary https://t.co/onAoWU9gSl pic.twitter.com/9zxLX8P1us
— New York Post (@nypost) July 6, 2016
“She was ‘extremely careless’ with top secret information, yet Hillary Clinton dodges responsibility as the FBI recommends against criminal charges,” reads the subhead.
The FBI’s findings are only a recommendation to the Justice Department, who will ultimately have the final say. However, considering the fact that the Obama-appointed Loretta Lynch is the active Attorney General — not to mention Lynch’s tarmac rendezvous with President Bill Clinton last week — AND the dangling bit of news that a potential President Hillary Clinton would consider keeping Lynch in as AG… charges are unlikely.
Ergo, as the New York Post colorfully points out this morning — Hillary Clinton skates.
The most liberal Daily News opted to focus its full-page cover on a hometown interest story: the return of shortstop Jose Reyes to the Mets.
