South Park Gears Up to Take on Brett Kavanaugh’s Senate Hearing
It appears South Park is getting ready to satirize Brett Kavanaugh and the last few weeks of craziness over his Supreme Court nomination.
The third episode of the show’s 22nd season is called “The Problem with a Poo,” and as longtime fans probably expected from a title like that, it will prominently feature Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo. Comedy Central sent out a clip and a press release on Monday, confirming that Mr. Hankey will testify and face questions about his comments and conduct throughout the years.
“Mr. Hankey’s offensive behavior puts him in jeopardy of being fired as the Director of the Annual Christmas Pageant,” the show description reads. “Mr. Hankey must defend his character or lose everything that is important to him.”
The premise and clip from the show both suggest that the episode will make reference to the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing where Kavanaugh responded to the sexual misconduct claims leveled against him. The hearing and the political firestorm that surrounded it dominated the news cycle over recent days, even after his confirmation was official.
Judging by the subject matter, it would seem that South Park is about to wade into political satire again in general after focusing on other matters over the last two weeks. The 22nd season premiere episode took on the normalization of school shootings, and last week’s episode addressed the sexual abuse allegations that have been hanging over the Catholic Church recently.
