At today’s White House press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders noted that it was ‘Bring Your Kid to Work Day.’ Following the briefing, she informed the members of the press corps that they could bring their children to a special Halloween event in the Oval Office that would feature the president handing out candy.
During the short Trick-or-Treat event, President Donald Trump spoke to the children and the press gathered in the room. And, of course, he brought his neverending feud with the media into the conversation.
“I cannot believe the media produced such beautiful children,” the president exclaimed. “How the media did this, I don’t know.”
POTUS then began addressing the children individually.
“Are you going to grow up to be like your parents?” he asked one little girl. “Mmmmm, don’t answer. That can only get me in trouble.”
“So how does the press treat you?” Trump asked another child while handing out candy. “I bet you get treated better by the press than anyone in the world.”
At the end, he told the gathered press in the room that they did a “good job” with their children before pointing to himself and saying they “hadn’t done a good job here.”
