Trump Blows Up Following Confrontations With CNN’s Acosta, Brian Karem: ‘SIT DOWN!’
After erupting on CNN’s Jim Acosta during the White House’s national emergency press conference today, Donald Trump shouted down Playboy‘s White House correspondent Brian Karem after he asked the president to back up claims about border violence with statistics.
Karem began his question by noting “numbers from your own border patrol, numbers from this government show that the number of illegal immigrants are down,” but was interrupted by Trump after saying “there is not violence on the border.”
“Oh really, you had 26 people killed two weeks ago in a gunfight a mile away from where I went,” the president shot back, referencing his recent visit to El Paso, Texas.
“I’m asking you to clarify where you get your numbers because most of the DEA crime reporting stats show that drugs are coming across at the ports of entry, that illegal immigration is down and the violence is down,” Karem asked.
Trump tried to quickly get the mic out of Karem’s hand, telling him “Ok, ok, let’s go, no you get one, you get one question,” before even answering the reporter.
“Sit down, sit down, sit down, you get one question,” Trump seethed, before explaining he gets m”y numbers from a lot of sources, like Homeland Security.”
“Could you share those stats with us?” Karem replied.
“Let me tell you, you have stats that are far worse than the ones I use, I use many stats,” the president said, adding, “Next question.”
The Playboy correspondent took to Twitter after the incident to knock Trump’s border statistic claims.
POTUS has no facts to back up his call for a national emergency and tells me to sit diwn when I ask him to provide those stats. @realDonaldTrump
