Trump ‘Disappointed’ in Justice Dept: ‘They Should Be Looking at the Democrats’
As President Trump prepared to leave for Asia he held a brief press gaggle today where he complained once again about why Justice Department isn’t taking greater action against the Democrats.
Trump faced questions about George Papadopoulos, who he once praised before the former campaign staffer pleaded guilty this week to lying to the FBI about his connections to Russia. When asked if he remembers talking to Papadopoulos about setting up meeting with the Russian government, Trump dismissed it by saying he doesn’t remember anything because his meeting with Papadopoulos was “unimportant” and happened a long time ago.
From there, Trump maneuvered into his tweeted statement from this morning about how the Justice Department should investigate Hillary Clinton and the Democratic party over how she tipped the scales of the 2016 primary against Senator Bernie Sanders.
“There was no collusion, there was no nothing. It’s a disgrace frankly that they continue. You want to look at Hillary Clinton and you ought to look at the new book that was just put out by Donna Brazille where she basically bought the DNC and she stole the election from Bernie, so that’s what you ought to take a look at.”
Trump also repeated what he told Mediaite‘s Larry O’Connor last night by expressing his disappointment in the Justice Department.
“I’m really not involved with the justice Department. I’d like to let it run itself, but honestly, they should be looking at the Democrats. They should be looking at Podesta and all of that dishonesty. They should be looking at a lot of things. And a lot of people are disappointed in the Justice Department including me.”
