Trump: I Think Federal Workers Not Getting Pay Would Say ‘Mr. President, Keep Going, This Is Far More Important’

President Trump received a few questions during today’s press conference about federal workers not being paid during the shutdown.

He talked at one point about landlords going easy on workers, but he also ended the presser with this claim:

“This really does have a higher purpose than next week’s pay. And the people that won’t get next week’s pay or the following week’s pay––I think if you ever really looked at those people, I think they’d say, ‘Mr. President, keep going. This is far more important.'”

A number of reports this time last week featured comments from federal workers talking about how seriously the shutdown affects them and their worries about paying rent and providing for their families.
